Here at Castle Church we are aware of the difficulties handicapped persons can be faced with. We are making every effort to make our church accessible as possible to everyone, young, old and handicapped or not. We have ramps where possible and accept that not everyone can sit for long in our pews.
We have a toilet in church and as you can see we have tried to cater for the disabled. We hope to improve the facility as soon as we can to get more space.

Loop System for the deaf

If you are a hearing-aid user and have yet to find what a great help Loop Systems can be, then this information is for you: Most hearing aids have a facility which enables the user to listen more clearly to a telephone conversation by making use of a small "telecoil" located inside the hearing aid.

By switching to the "T" position on the hearing aid, the microphone used for normal listening is switched off and the "telecoil" is connected. The advantage of this is that unwanted sounds can be masked out and direct sound eg. from a telephone handset, can be clearly heard. By using this same facility, hearing-aid users can listen to super-clear speech and music when using the "T" position inside a loop system. The loop system is, very simply, a loop of wire round the outside of seats in a building eg. the church, connected to the sound system. This enables all the sound which is directed to the microphones of the sound system to be heard much more clearly via your hearing aid. So, if you wear a hearing aid, why deny yourself the pleasure of hearing everything clearly? Make sure you sit within the loop, and turn your hearing aid to the "T" position. You will be astonished at the difference it makes!
